From Standing Stone car park on the edge of Macclesfield Forest, the route climbs through the trees and up onto a high plateau, where Shutlingsloe rises ahead of you. They call it the Cheshire Matterhorn, and from this side you can see why.
The last pull to the summit is steep but short, and the view over the Cheshire Plain, the Peak and Staffordshire is one of the best in the county. Then it's back down through the forest.
