If you've never been, you should. Take the Buxton road from Congleton, turn off for Wildboarclough about six miles before Buxton, and park at Clough House at the foot of Shutlingsloe.

The route climbs onto open moorland to Three Shires Head, where three counties meet at an old packhorse bridge over the River Dane, with waterfalls and pools below it. It's a famous wild swimming spot in summer, and a beautiful place to sit at any time of year.
