Market Drayton and the Shroppie
A loop along the Shropshire Union Canal and through the old market town, on a glorious autumn morning.

Market Drayton has had a market since the 13th century and it's a nice place to wander round. This route runs down the Shropshire Union Canal (the Shroppie, as everyone calls it), then loops round and back through the town.
I did it on a stunning November morning with the autumn colours at their best, and was drawn by invisible tendrils of desire to Wetherspoons at the end. It's 4.25 miles, flat and easy.
