Polzeath, Pentire Point and the Rumps
An early morning loop from Polzeath beach on the coast path to Pentire Point and the Rumps, back over the headland before the family's awake.

On holiday, the trick is to get out early, under the radar, and be back before the family's started the day. You get magical places in magic hour, all to yourself.
From Polzeath you cross the beach, go up the steps to New Polzeath and follow the coast path out to Pentire Point. The path wraps round the headland to the Rumps, an Iron Age promontory fort with magnificent views, before looping back via Pentire Farm.
One tip: don't park in the campsite car park like I did. It's cheaper and bigger, but further away.
