Oakamoor is a little village in the Churnet Valley not far from Alton Towers. At four and a half miles this is perfect for a walk.

You start by the river at Oakamoor bridge and run down to the old station, now just a bit of platform, then follow the Churnet Way before turning up into Dimmingsdale, a lovely wooded valley with old mill pools. You could just as well start at the Ramblers Retreat tea rooms in Dimmingsdale.
