Wybunbury (say Win-bree) is a lovely old village between Crewe and Nantwich, and one of the oldest settlements in Cheshire, going back well before 1066.
The must-see is what's left of St Chad's Church: just the 15th century tower, leaning thanks to subsidence, with ancient gravestones used as paving round it. Nearby Wybunbury Moss is a rare floating bog and nature reserve.
There are three loops: 1.5, 3.5 or 5 miles, all ending back by the pub.
