Windermere: Newby Bridge to Bowness by Ferry

The quieter southern end of Windermere, from Newby Bridge past Lakeside and Cunsey, with the ferry back to Bowness.

A trip round the southern end of Windermere. I headed down to Newby Bridge, then followed the lanes from the Swan Hotel past the aquarium at Lakeside and Stott Park Bobbin Mill to Cunsey, and caught the ferry back to Bowness.

For walkers I'd suggest parking in Bowness, taking the bus to Newby Bridge and walking the lakeside paths north, then the ferry back (or the bus from Ambleside if you keep going). Runners, don't assume it's flat because it's by a lake. It's anything but, though nothing too steep.
