I enjoyed the Ellesmere run so much I came back to north Shropshire for more. St Martin's was once home to the Ifton Colliery.

You head down Green Lane to the parish church and on to the Llangollen Canal, then follow it to Chirk, crossing the aqueduct into Wales with the railway viaduct alongside, and going through the Chirk Tunnel. Take a torch. The way back goes through Chirk and along the River Ceiriog and Ifton Meadow.
