Lymm, south of Warrington, is a lovely village with a lake at its heart, formed by Lymm Dam, and a popular walk round it.

The Trans Pennine Trail, here on an old railway line, and the Bridgewater Canal run roughly parallel through the village, so they join up nicely. This route does the dam, then links the canal and the trail into a loop. You can easily do shorter or longer versions.
