Froggatt and Curbar Edge
Along the gritstone edge above Froggatt and Curbar through purple heather, then down through ancient woodland to the Derwent.

What a place: purple heather, huge views, ancient woodland and the babble of the River Derwent.
We're south of Hathersage and north of Bakewell, running along the gritstone escarpment above Calver, Curbar and Froggatt. From the pull-in below the Grouse Inn you head onto the edge and follow it with the valley spread out beneath you, then drop down through the woods to the river and back.
Afterwards, get a bag of chips from the Toll Bar in Stoney Middleton. If they're good enough for Tom Cruise and Liam Gallagher, they're good enough for you.
