Kelsall Old Paths Circular Walk

A long, unhurried loop round the village I grew up in, on old lanes, coach roads and woodland paths, with Old Pale and the Boot Inn along the way.

Kelsall is where I grew up, and this time I went looking at the lanes and paths I knew as a kid with fresh eyes.

From Stoney Lane you head towards Old Pale and Eddisbury, then into the shade of Nettleford Wood, where deep old road cuttings hint at how long people have been walking through here. Nobody quite agrees where the Roman road ran through the village, which only makes it more fun to wonder about.

It's a mix of village lanes, woodland tracks and field paths, with a few hills and some road crossings. Mapped it's 10.3 miles; I walked about 11 with the stroll back to the car. The Boot Inn at Boothsdale is perfectly placed for a stop. Take water if it's warm; it was 30 degrees when I filmed it.
