From the Chester side of the Dee you cross the Queens Park suspension bridge and head down the river round Earl's Eye towards Eccleston. You leave the river where the Eccleston film did and head into the woods, but this time turn onto the Chester Approach, the old carriage drive to Eaton Hall, and follow it back to the river.

At Edgar's Field in Handbridge you pause at the shrine to Minerva, carved into the sandstone by Roman legionaries in the 2nd century and still there.
